Nice on a Monday, and a touch of Monaco and Italy other days

I'm hoping a full day is a good start on exploring Nice especially with the Monday market.

Any suggestions to fill in the day plus lunch?

Was thinking on tagging on Monaco in the afternoon but I think I will leave that for another 1/2 or full day depending on sites! Can do it plus some hill towns to the north if need be to full in the day!

I thought another day touring the few hills towns of Dolceaqua etc would be nice also as not too far from our gite in Saint Jeannette north of Nice - any suggestions for that area for a day touring!

Anyone familiar with the Bellet wines north of Nice? supposed to be good!

We've spent 4 weeks vacationing in a Gite in St Jeannette, and about 4 additional weeks staying in Nice.

Do you have my Cote d'Azur & Provence itinerary??? I have several day-trips outlined, leaving from the St Paul/St Jeannette area. E-mail me at [email protected] if you would like a copy & I'll attach it to the reply e-mail. Do so soon - we leave for vacation in France in 5 days.

Several stores in Old Nice will be closed on Monday. You might be disappointed in the Nice brocante market - my wife has never found anything interesting and affordable there.

If you're an art lover, don't miss the Chagall and Matisse museums. The Orthodox cathedral is said to be the best of its kind outside of Russia.

The Russian Church in Nice is closed. The market is much better other days, fruit, vegetables, flowers, than Monday. Matisse and Chagall Museums are closed on Tuesday, Matisse is free.

This is our second trip to the Pays Basque. Last time we stayed for 2 weeks just west of St Jean pied de Port in Osses. This time we are staying in Sare and expect to make lots of day trips into Spain and dine there 5 for nights.
