nice Nice hotel

WE need a nice and central hotel in Nice for 2 adults and 1 child for one night....any ideas would be brilliant. Also is the old town worth visiting and is it walkable from the centre of Nice?

Vieux Nice is one of the main reasons to visit Nice in the first place. It's delightful, especially the open-air market between the old town and the Mediterranean; it takes place in the Cours Saléya and is very colorful.

Staying in the center of Nice will place you away from the sea and Vieux Nice, which is where most people want to stay and what is therefore considered central--unless you want to be in the shopping and residential area. My preference would definitely be to stay closer to Vieux Nice and the Promenade des Anglais, and there the Beau Rivage is a very nice hotel. It was just renovated last winter/spring and has up-to-the-moment rooms. The hotel is one block from the Cours Saléya and the Mediterranean.

What's your price range?
I would want to be on the Promenade Des Anglais - and most hotels from there are close to the old city. You can choose from La Perouse, Le Meridian, Mercure, Winsdor, Negresco, Westminster... -
What do you mean by the centre?
More information please.

We enjoyed the Windsor. It has a lovely patio with a pool and a great location. Last summer it was 100 Euros a night for a double without breakfast.

The Windsor is full unfortunately. We have looked at the Comfort Hotel Vieux Port near the harbour but aren't sure if this is going to position us too far away from the promenade or restaurants. We have also looked at the Crillon Hotel on Rue Pastorelli or the Citadines Buffa which seems quite a distance away. Our price range is £50-£80 as its our last night before flying out really early the next morning.

Hope this helps.

WE stayed at the Mercure Promenade des Anglais - GREAT location...your typical chain hotel. It was only $135 USD (about 65-70 BP).
It's nothing fancy as it is a chain hotel - the plus for us was the cost as well as it accomodated four of us!
