Nice: Hôtel Excelsior Regina

I've seen this hotel mentioned quite a few times as the one preferred by Queen Victoria when she spent time in Nice. Does anyone know whether it still exists? So far I haven't been able to find anything on line about the hotel today.

Where did you heard/read it?

I'm sure you have noticed Hotel Excelsior (w/o Régina) in Nice. But I guess it's not that one. "Only" a 3* star hotel although it's web site calls itself "luxury hotel". Located on a not particualry charmin) steet, Ave.Durante, not even on on the beach.

"On her first two visits to Nice in 1895 and 1896 the Queen stayed in the Grand Hôtel in Cimiez above Nice. On her next three visits she stayed in the Excelsior Hôtel Regina, Cimiez, which had been built with her needs in mind. She travelled with a staff of 100 and took over the whole west wing. "

Sorry it's me again but the following seems to give the definitive answer your are looking for.

"The Grand Hôtel and the Excelsior Hôtel Regina are at the top of the Boulevard de Cimiez. The Grand Hotel was turned into a hospital and the Excelsior appartments. The splendid Belle Epoque Excelsior building can be seen well from the outside. In front of the Excelsior is a statue of the Queen erected in 1912."
