Nice Accommodations
Hi,
I will be spending 2 nights/3 days in Nice with my mom and looking for a reasonable priced hotel or B&B that is clean, comfortable and nice. Also, we like to be within walking distance but away from the crowds. If there is anyone who can recommend a place that they stayed at and truly enjoyed, please let me know.
Thanks.

I looked into Hôtel Villa les Cygnes but it was not available for my timetable (October 5-12). I know it isn't in the Old Town ... so it probably is quieter.
I would have stayed there. I don't think Nice is all that big that walking around is a problem and my research indicates it has a very easy tram and bus system...
google them...see what you think.

You might like the Hotel Villa Rivoli http://www.villa-rivoli.com/index.en.php
although it may be a bit above your budget unless you stay in the lower level rooms, which I guess are in the basement. There is no elevator in this hotel, don't know if that is important to you. I stayed here in June just for one night as was renting an apartment the next day. It is a couple of blocks from the Promenade Des Anglais and the Negresco. I was very pleased with my stay and would go there again.
Decor is very charming, staff very helpful and my room was comfortable and clean.

That hotel sounds and looks great! Just what I am looking for unfortunately, it's not available. I will keep looking. Thanks.
What I meant by walking distance is being close to beach, train station, grocery store. Sorry. I should have specified. I also don't want an area close to the crowds and late night noise. I like retreating back to my hotel/apartment after a day of touring, etc.

I assume you are inquiring about this year. You realize, of course, you are going to be at one of the most popular destinations in France at the peak if tourist season. You won't be able to get away from the crowds. You had better get something soon, and take what you can find. We always stay at the hotel Windsor.
If you are looking at 2014, it is probably too early to book - that could be why you are not finding places available.
