New Year's Eve in Rome

Some girl friends and I (ages 22/23) are planning on spending New Years in Rome. Approx. dates are 12/29 - 1/2.

Any suggestions on things to do on New Year's Eve and Day would be really helpful! (events, concerts, good places for fireworks, etc)

I have been to Rome before, but during the summer. I am really excited about getting to see the center of the Roman Catholic world during the Christmas season!

Also, a few of us do not have a hotel yet...any suggestions? We are open to hostels (...we are on a budget).
