New Year's Eve in Barcelona

We will be in Barcelona Dec. 30th until Jan. 7th, and would like to think ahead for plans/reservations for New Year's Eve. (I'm nervous to play it by ear, because we will barely know the city and might end up with nothing to do...)

Does anyone know of a good party, festival, club, restaurant deal, etc. for New Year's Eve?

I haven't found any specific parties at the clubs online, though where I come from clubs/bars would sell tickets in advance, and possibly even sell out.

We just returned from Barcelona having stayed in an apartment right on Ramblas...I can't EVEN imagine what that area must be like on New Years' Eve...it was rocking until 4:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights while we were there...and it's considered "off" season! I know you'll have a wild time!

Awesome, thanks!! I had read somewhere that Barcelona "doesn't really get into New Year's Eve that much"?!? I was hoping that wasn't the case. Maybe we should just take to the streets, be safe, and look for a cool place to have a drink or two...

Hi! I am from Barcelona and I will be attending a new year's eve party at a club called New Casanovas, in the centre of the city. It's organised by medical students, but everyone's invited so there will be all kinds of people. The party starts at 00:30 (basically all parties in Barcelona start after midnight), and will be going on until 5:30 am.
The tickets are 35 € if you buy them before the 28th, and they include entrance to the club and as many drinks as you want to have.
I've been to this party other years and it has never disappointed me, so I recomend it!
Here you have the link to the fb event, everything's written in catalan but the information is basically what i told you here. I hope you like it http://www.facebook.com/events/176144492481376/

Whatever you do if you are out and about..Keep your cards, $ and passport safely on your body..In your bra if your wear one, pinned into a pocket, in a $ belt..etc.. Hang on to them for dear life. Also eating white grapes in the Plaza..We were told many years ago that you ate them as fast as you could and that would increase your good luck for the year.BUT this year we found out that it is one grape for each strike of the clock. The gobblers are tourists..locals get a big laugh..

What amer_can said. Watch everything, especially on the Ramblas. We were there 3 or 4 years ago. We could not find anything particularly New Years Evey like fireworks, etc. but we did walk down the Ramblas and the crowds and pickpockets were overwhelming. My husband was frisked by a couple of guys looking for his wallet, etc. He and my son yelled and they went away but I could imagine it happening again at every turn. Young kids walk the streets selling bottles of cold cheap cava that they've hidden in the street beneath manhole covers. It's pretty much mayhem with no real redeeming entertainment value but if you like crowd scenes, it's certainly one of those. I'm a big BCN fan but NYEve was not my favorite experience there by any means.
