New to this forum - need help!

I have been reading this forum and have really found it interesting. I am leaving for Italy (landing in Rome) in June. I have reserved an apartment in Panicale, which is located between Rome and Florence. It will be my "home base" for 2 weeks. I have reservations for one night in Venice. I am staying at Albergo Quattro Fontane. We are also staying at Lake Como for 2 nights at Hotel Barchetta Excelsior. We will be flying out of Zurich where I have booked the Zurich Marriott. I will be renting a car in Rome. My main concern is should we drive from Panicale to Venice? If so, where do we park? I think we will have to take a water taxi to our hotel in Venice.
This is my first trip to Europe, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a little confused (don't blame yourself, I spend a lot of my life this way). Are you getting rid of the car when you get to Venice or keeping it to drive on to Lake Como and then Zurich? If you are dropping it off you should try to do that at Piazza Roma rather than at the airport. And if you are keeping the car, park it at Piazza Roma also. From there you can just take a vaparetto if you want, or take a water taxi.

Welcome to the forum, by the way and congratulations on giving us so many details.

OK - since you are new here I'll be gentle

"New to this forum - need help!" does not tell anyome anything about what you are asking -- It doesn't mention Venice, Panicale -- or even Italy.

To give you a better chance to get useful information I would start a new thread with a better title.

BTW - clicking on "Italy" does not place your post on a special Italian forum. Ther is only one general Europe forum.

As Patick says, you can park easily at Piazzale Rome, but it will cost about 20E. That is fine if you will want it for Lago Como. I do not know your hotel there, but I would consider dropping the car in Italy--probably the city of Como--and training to Zurich to avoid a big drop off charge.

I was posting the same time as Patrick - I wasn't at all implying his advice isn't useful.

My point was -- look at the other titles on the board. The specific ones get the best response . . . . . .

Thank you for the information. I am obviously a new traveler! I will try to post in a less broad manner.
Again, thanks!
