Hello,
I will be visitng both castles in one day on next May. I will have a car.

Which route do yo recommend to take from Neuschwanstein to Linderhof.

I saw in google maps a route through austrian alps (L255 and then St2060), is this a good idea? how are the conditions of this route around mid-May.

I remember the route through Reutte and along the Plansee lake (L255) as a bit tedious and maybe narrow in some places. The low level route through Steingaden, Unterammergau and Oberammergau is a bit longer but more pleasant. You can add a short visit to the very nice Wieskirche at Steingaden and maybe the Ettal abbey.

Other good stops nearby are the Wiesekirche and Oberammergau. You might want to plan your route to include those. A little further up the road from Linderhoff to Garmish the Ettal !onastary is an interesting stop.

You will need to get an early entrace time to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau to see them the make it over to Linderhoff before closing time.

I will be doing the trip from Munich and returning there, that´s why i thought in doing:

Munich => Neuschwanstein => Linderhof => Oberammergau => Wiesekirche => Munich

As I will be returning from Oberammergau i thought in the orher route through Austria, but i don´t know the conditions in May.

I won´t visit the inside of Neuschwanstein, just from outside. I´m more interested in the inside of Linderhof.

I do not think that the lakeside route will be closed in May as it is not really so high and difficult. I just remember a quite slow drive in the wilderness that turned out to be longer than I was anticipating.

Neuschwanstein was only lived in for a few weeks so it comes off kind of like a movie set. hohenschwangau on the opposite hill is very interesting. Ludwig and his family lived there. Linderhof is small but interesting. You migh want to check out opening and closing times so you will lnow how to plan your day.

If this a day trip, you may want to maximize your time to actually see or visit the sights along the route and take A95 from Munich to Garmisch (Linderhof) at the beginning or end of your trip.
Since you plan to see Linderhof palace from the inside, I'd go there first. So you don't need to rush through your day to make it there in the late afternoon latest.

Or you take A95 towards Garmisch to Linderhof.
And do a loop from Linderhof to Reutte (via that scenic road along the lake in Austria - which is easy to find from Linderhof than back from Reutte to Linderhof) to Füssen / Neuschwanstein, Wieskirche, Oberammergau, Ettal monastery and back to A95.

If you can you should avoid weekends as the motorway gets seriously jammed at the very end near Eschenlohe in the morning hours, somewhat less in the reverse direction in the evening.

Oberammergau is my favorite of all those stops. Linderhof grounds are beautiful.
