I hope someone can help me with this last minute accommodation question.

I usually research well in advance but this trip is quite last minute. I am looking for a hotel that is in a nice neighbourhood. My friend likes a quiet neighbourhood and I like to be able to be able to walk to the major attractions as much as possible.

I think she would like a pool and I would be happy with some outside area to have a nice drink and relax.

These are the hotels that I narrowed down based on price and reviews but I am not sure of the neighbourhoods. If anyone has been or knows of these hotels, I would appreciate some help.

Best western Premier Hotel Dante is in the left Example at Carrer de Mallorca, 181. Not a bad location. It's a basic 4-star, nothing exciting.

Europark is in the right Example at Calle Aragó, 323-325. A littl more stylish.

The Yurbban Trafalgar is a bit more upscale in a decent location.

Hotel Vueling BCN at Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 550 one the main avenue. Tied in with Vueling discount airline. Nothing exciting, bug a good location.

U232 at Carrer del Comte d'Urgell, 232, is a bit more upscale and located near Paco Meralgo.

Thanks Robert. I don't think I am looking for exciting as much as "walking" distance to many sites and safe (and clean of course).

I appreciate you taking the time. I am also looking into Avienda - seems a lot of fodorites recommend it.

We stayed at U232 for a couple of days....we had a room at the top
which was fine ...most rooms are facing a busy street and the hotel
is a bit of a walk from "attractions"

I have stayed at the Hotel Vueling a few times - I really like it. The street it is on is busy but the rooms facing it have no noise at all (if you keep the windows closed.) The staff are wonderful. There are all kinds of restaurants, bars and shops around, and you can walk to many places or take the metro (there is a stop very near by.) The rooms are not huge and I haven't used the outside area/pool so can't comment on that - but I can safely say its a great base in Barcelona.

@rialtogrl- is there room for 2 people ? (in a twin of course)

kelsey, I have had a couple of different rooms there, one I booked the same day I checked in and it was larger. The other times I booked a single in advance and they were smaller. So I have a feeling I got a single, smallish room most times. I think twin rooms would be on the larger size.

We stayed at the Catalonia Cathedral and really liked the area. I don't know if that is in your price point but really recommend that neighbouthood as it is really unique and close to alot of restaurants, sites...

Thanks for all of your suggestions. My friend found the Onyx Rambla. She would like to stay there. I went through the old forums and found that many Fodorites stayed there. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
