Neighborhood for Dubrovnik

Basically I can't decide and I'm relying on just a little more info from you all to help me decide. It's just myself and my partner. I can't decide between staying right in Old Town and experience that or do we stay outside of Old Town but have a great view of the city? This is sorta silly. But I just can't seem to decide. I have found places in both areas that I like and are within our budget.

Inside. You can always go out to get a view of the city, but for staying there, be there.

I would stay inside or just outside one of the gates. On my first visit, I stayed right outside the Pile Gate (across the street from the Hilton Imperial) and found walking into the old town quick and pleasant.

I hiked up above the town, on hilly streets with view homes, to get views down for photographer. I can guess some of the houses I walked past are rented to tourists so might give you a great view down. The view would be great, but it would be super inconvenient to have to hike down anytime you wanted to do anything in the center. You can also take a funicular up above the town (I didn't take it) and get a view down.

I agree! But I understand your dilemma -- it can be hard to choose when two options are both good!

FWIW, I stayed just outside the Ploče Gate at the quirky Villa Adriatica -- best of both worlds, with no hills AND views of the city! The Villa Adriatica met my needs exceedingly well, but it is a bit quirky, so even if it's available, do some research before you commit.

Hope that helps!
