My sister in law (and family) have recently moved to the Bath area. Our plan for our next trip (to UK & Europe), is to spend a few days with them and then go to France and Italy.
?What day trips from Bath can the Fodorites recommend?

The Cotswolds, for starters; Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bristol (fine art museum)...many are within easy reach of Bath, which is itself very interesting.
If I were in your situation I would LOVE to take the Stonehenge tour where you can go in and touch the stones after regular visiting hours.
Berkeley Castle, Castle Combe, Lacock, Wells, Glastonbury and Sherborne; each of the above is quite close to Bath.
We did day trips to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Cardiff, Wales. Cardiff was interesting because we went to the Museum of WElsh life. They have taken buildings from different time periods and different areas of WAles and reassembled them at this outdoor museum. We also went to the castle in Cardiff. We did these two (museum and castle) comfortably in a day. Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral can also be done in one day.
