need phone number for national rail

I need a phone number for national rail that I can call from Canada. I have a number through qjump of 0870 333 4877, but when I try and call with the use of a long distance phone card it seems as though it is a different kind of number, because when I tried calling a relative in the UK with my card, it said I had 87 minutes left on my card, but when calling the above number, it said I had 7 minutes for that call. I wonder why and what city has an area code of 0870?? I am trying to call to change my childrens' train travel. If anyone knows of an alternate number that I can call, I would appreciate it.

Hi ingy,

Which national rail are you trying to call?

0870 isn't an area code: it's a special rate code.

The number to call from outside the UK for National Rail (which is merely the information service for the consortium of train operators)is +44 20 7278 5240.

But is that really what you want? You'll find an index of access pages for the train operators at www.nationalrail.co.uk/toc_list.html

This has got me going.

The 0870 number you're quoting is Qjump's, not National Rail. Qjump is a website, and discourages phone-based changes. They don't publish a conventional phone number.

There almost always IS a conventional number, and if you call their group head office, explaining your problem, you might make some progress (though I'd doubt it).

Qjump's holding company, Thetrainline.com, is registered at the same address as the Virgin Group. Directory Enquiries give only another 0870 number for Thetrainline, but the central number for the Virgin Group's Management Services is +44 020 7229 1282.

Good luck. Anything Virgin touches is a great deal longer on self-serving puffery than on helping Branson's unfortunate customers.

National Rail doesn't sell train tickets, so they can't change tickets. Where did you buy the tickets? Qjump is now owned by The Train Line which is owned by Virgin.
