Need info on Ukraine

Hi!
I'm travelling to the Ukraine, Ternopil to be exact and would appreciate any information you can give on what to expect, what the culture is like, food, etc.

There's a site on http://goeasteurope.about.com/travel/goeasteurope/msubua.htm. It gives useful links. But much of Ukraine remains uncovered on the web: I can find no web site for the towns in the Carpathians.

I'm going straight into the great Peter's two suggestions, as I'm booked for a week on a charter train late in February.
