Need info on Greece and Gernany for family holiday

We will be visiting Holland this Summer
We would like to travel by train to Germany for just a few days.
Then we would like to fly to Greece for about ten days.
My wife and 8 year old twins will be traveling with me.
Last year we visited Holland and took the train to Paris then a flight to Nerja Spain.
The whole trip was planned on fodors forum and the members advice.
We had a spectacular time thanks to all your help and advice.
So, I am here asking for advice again.
In Greece we hope to enjoy the beaches with a little sightseeing as well
In Germany we were thinking black forrest or the rhine river ( again only a few days here )
So any help with "must do or Must See", best family beaches that offer a real feel for Greece, family hotels, Family activities ...... would be awsome!
We can travel in mid June or Jul.y.
Thanks again for all your help!!!!!

Try to visit Greece before mid July,June is less crowded, less expensive, not extremely hot.People working in tourism are not "burned out" yet, so you get better service and they are keen to engage you in chats etc

yes Greece first before Germany.

Black forest is, well, a forest. While I've wandered in it I was not impressed. A focus on the Rhine and even the Mosel (which flows into the Rhine) might be really worth it and especially the Mosel for the kids as the Mosel has loads of villages with kid friendly things to do.

For some family fun, consider cycling around part of Bodensee (Lake Constance). See this site for some ideas http://www.bodensee-radweg.com/

Buy the twins a couple of kids books about Greek mythology... it will make Greece that much more interesting for them.

There's so much of interest in Greece that is NOT on a beach... allow time for ancient sites as well. My philosophy is you can lie in the sun almost anywhere but there is only one Greece! ;^)

Agree w/bilbob. on the Rhine/Mosel as a solid family destination. Figure about 4 hours from A'dam by train. Regular fare to the area for your family is about 160€ but savings fares can be had for as little as 58€ total (2 adults + 2 kids) if you buy well in advance at the German Railways site (92 days out, when the cheapest tickets first go on sale - they go quickly.)

I would specifically suggest Cochem. Great old-world town on the Mosel River w/ several attractions (Reichsburg castle & tour, chairlift ride, river cruises, excellent free-flight falconry show at the castle.) Cochem is also near one of Europe's finest castles - Burg Eltz.

Falconry show (closed Mon's.) photos at Reichsburg:

Outings by train from Cochem to Trier or the Rhine River can be done cheaply on the Rheinland-Pfalz ticket; see details:

What else do you want to see in Greece besides a beach? Do you want to go to an island or 2? I wouldn't go all the way to Greece for a beach. There are many beaches closer.

I would go to Greece for the beaches, since Greece has some of Europes nicest beaches and the cleanest water of the Mediterranean.....
But it would be a pity to visit Greece just for the beaches, since the country has so much to offer.
It is only a 2,5-3 hours flight from Germany, and from many German airports you can fly directly to many Greek islands.

Just give us some more information on your interests and likes, since Greece has many and very diverse regions.

I dont now about germany but for greece the best island for family are the bigest island from that 3000 . Dont thing about popular island like santorini or myconos or paros. Try Rodos (east Coste only !!!very important) Crete in place like elafonisos , Vai , Ierapetra ,Sfakia.
