Need inexpensive hotel in Amalfi and Italian food/sightseeing suggestions.

Help! Our daughter and son in law are leaving Friday on an inexpensive Italian honeymoon trip. They are staying one night in Amalfi on Feb. 19th and need an inexpensive hotel there. They have their other hotels.
They would also appreciate suggestions for local reasonable restaurants and sightseeing suggestions there and at their other stops. Here is their itinerary:
Venice (Carnivale) Feb 6th -8th,
Verona - Feb 9th, going to
Florence - Feb 10th and 11th :
Sienna: Night of Feb 12th:
Rome: Nights Feb13-15
Sorrento(Capri and Pompei): Nights of Feb 16th, 17th, 18th
Amalfi - Night of Feb 19th - NEED HOTEL
Naples - Night of Feb 20th.
Thanks in advance.

This is a whole lotta checking in and out of hotels...

I would just visit Amalfi as a day trip from Sorrento. If they "must" spend the night, look at Hotel Floridiana.

If they don't already know what sightseeing they want to do in each place, buy them a guide book to read on the flight to Venice.

I wouldn't switch hotels to spend one night in Amalfi especially when the next night is in Naples. They are switching hotels too much as it is. Just add a night to Sorrento. They can easily visit Amalfi from Sorrento.

Another suggestion - Are they driving or taking the train to Siena? Siena would be an easy day trip from Florence alleviating another overnighter. Unless they're renting a car, have them take the bus instead of the train to Siena, the bus will drop them right off in the historic center. The train stops outside of town and they'd have to taxi in.

Thanks, I have passed the suggestions on. They are not renting a car. I said "Hotel" and I probably should have said B and B.
They know the basic sights they want to see, but I have received great "little known gems" for restaurants and sights from this forum. So if you have them, we would love them.
Thanks again.

I'm wondering why they're spending so much time in beach resosts out of season. In Feb many of the hotels and restaurants are closed and the ferries run on a very reduced schedule when they run at all.

It seems foolish to give such short shrift to Florence and Rome to spend so many days in a beach resort off season, when sightseeing is limited and getting to Capri may be difficult due to rough seas.

Agree I wouldn't ove to Amalfi for one night - unless to go to a super lux place with a wonderful spa or something. It's actually quite a small, quiet town - and while pretty from the water in season - doesn't have a lot to do in the winter.

"I said 'Hotel' and I probably should have said B and B."

You can't always tell the difference in Italy. They should choose by location, budget and whatever amenities (if any) they want/need. Don't get hung up on the property's name.

We stayed 5 nights in Sorrento a year ago January, and even Sorrento was pretty well closed up. I imagine it will be the same in February. We actually had a hard time finding open restaurants. On the plus side, we had Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis to ourselves. We went to Capri for a day and were flexible enough to go on a great day weather-wise. It wouldn't be any fun at all in bad weather (not to mention the ferries, hydrofoil might not be running).

I would think Amalfi would be even quieter -- and it was pretty quiet in January, too.
