We're trying to plan a 14-day driving trip and would appreciate advice from anybody who may have driven these routes. We plan to rent a car in Barcelona and drive to Zaragoza for our 1st night. Then to San Sebastian (or is it better to stay in Hondarribia?) for 3 nights. On our way out of San Sebastian, we will explore the French border area and then take 2 and 1/2 days to get across France through Toulouse and down the coast to Figueres, where we would stay in the area for 2 nights. We will now have 4 and 1/2 days (5 nights) remaining for Barcelona where we will return our car as soon as we get to the city and use public transportation in the city.
We have not made hotel reservations yet - would really like to hear favorite small hotels or pensiones and restaurants in any of these places. Also, do the driving times seem realistic? How are the roads - should we take the tollways or the "scenic" back roads? Any advice on these areas will be really appreciated -- thanks.

I would recommend that you stay in San Sebastián. Marshlands.blogstream.com and "A different kind of Spain" gives you an idea.
Hostal Chomín is a very nice place to stay. Located in a tranquil area just by the beautiful Ondarreta beach and a 15-20 minute stroll along the La Concha beach promenade to the city center and the Parte vieja (Old town).
