Need help traveling from Austria to Switzerland
Hi, my husband and I are going for a 10 day vacation and visiting few places in Austria and Switzerland.
I need help with which route and mode of transport is best. Here is my itinerary at a glace.
Day 1- Vienna
Day 2 &3 - Zell am see
Day 4- Zurich
Day 5 til 7- Interlaken
Day 8 & 9 - Zermatt
Day 10- Return to Zurich and catch flight
I need help with two things.
Which Rail pass should I get? Euro rail including 2 countries, or just Swiss Rail?
Secondly, I am having a tough time finding out how to get to Zurich from Zell am see. The route planner shows me to go by 3 different trains and will reach in 6 1/2 hours. Is there any direct bus from Salzburg or any area close to Zell am see? Or are there any night trains that I can catch?
Thanks for your help!

Just use Austrian Railways www.oebb.at to book Vienna to Zell am See from €19 then again Z am S to Zurich from €29. You print your own ticket.
Z am S to Zurich will take you through the lovely scenic Arlberg Pass, see video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV1G58ot71k
There's a night train Vienna-Zurich but anything shorter doesn't warrant a night train.
Once in Switzerland, just see whether regular tickets (www.sbb.ch) or a Swiss Travel Pass would be cheaper for what you want to do. It could go either way, don't know until you do the maths.
