Need help texting between US and French cell phones
Need some help texting please!
How do I text from an American cell phone while I am in France to a French cell phone? If this is the French cell number I was given, 06 12 34 56 78, what numbers do I put in front of that number while I will be in France so I can text to that number? (I believe texting from the US I would input the number 011 33 6 12 34 56 78)
How does someone who lives in France with a French cell phone number text me both if I am in the US or while I am in France if this is my US cell phone number: (123) 456-7890
Thanks for any help!

Using WhatsApp is simple and you can even make calls from a WiFi hotspot using WhatsApp if you have the correct smartphone. If you have the iPhone, it automatically makes the connection. No need to add the long distance or international code as long as you have the country code.
If you use T-Mobile, it's even easier.

From the view of outgoing calls, all cell phones behave as if it is a local phone. A US cell phone in France calling a French number is identical to a French cellphone calling another French number.
While in France, from both US and French cell phone, you will use 06-xx-xx sequence to call a French number given in example.
From the point of view of the incoming calls, the phone never loses its country of origin. If a French cell phone wants to call your US number (123) 456-7890, it always have to use the US country code irrespective of your location - think about it, otherwise the caller would need to know where you are located. So from a French phone it is as stated by the first response 00-1-123-456-7890 or +1-123-456-7890 where "+" is converted for you into international code from that country. In Europe it is usually "00".
