Need an 8-day itinerary for Greece in November

My sister and I are going to Greece mid way of our trip in Turkey in November this year and are thinking of spending 8 days in-country before flying off to Istanbul to end our Turkish trip.

We would like to split the time between the mainland and probably just one island... certainly no more than two and wish to get around by public transit.

Santorini has always seemed absolutely magical but I'm sure there are other islands that are equally splendid.
Meteora seems interesting too with monasteries perching on the hillside.

Our interests include simple hiking in beautiful countryside, city-sightseeing and eating great food at unpretentious restaurants, and we are not into clubbing. We don't mind exploring 2-3 ancient ruins but not too many.

Our initial plan is as follows:

Day 1 - Fly from Izmir to Athens - Fly to Santorini
Day 2 - Santorini
Day 3 - Santorini
Day 4 - Fly from Santorin to Athens (early afternoon)
Day 5 - Athens
Day 6 - Bus/ train to Meteora
Day 7 - Bus/ train to Athens
Day 8 - Fly to Istanbul (late evening)

Any thoughts? The other question is are we spending too little time in Athens - all in about 2 days ?

You got some good answers on Trip Advisor. I would be inclined to skip Santorini and spend more time in Athens, or go to Nafplio, which is on the coastline of the Peloponnese, with much to see in the area. I love the Greek Islands, but prefer to visit in summer.

Nafplio is only 2-3 hours by express bus from Athens. You could also hire a car at Athens Airport and drive straight there.

Even though Meteora is a very nice area to visit, it is located 400 km away from Athens, so unless you have more time to spend in Greece, i wouldn't recommend sacrificing 2 valuable days.

As Heimdall suggested Nafplio and the Argolis are an ideal area to see some of the most important archeological sites of Greece.

Santorini in November will be absolutely boring.....
