Need advise for travel to Switzerland, Austria, Germany (with teens)

Jump to last reply

My wife and I will be taking our teenagers (twin girls, 16, son, 18) to a leadership camp in Leysin Switzerland (far western Switzerland) in July 2013 and would love to pick the forum’s brains to help plan this trip.

Fast Facts:
Leadership camp – July 10-17
Budget: Somewhat unlimited
Want to see: Romantic Road, Austria including Salzburg & Allstatt, Switzerland
Have: Up to 2 weeks, including the camp
First visit to Germany/Switzerland/Austria, but have been to Europe many times
Like: Teen activities, active pursuits, festivals
Staying in: Either vacation rental or hotel
Transportation: Car/Train, or your suggestion

What we are looking to do is to drop off our children in Leysin, enjoy an adult week-long vacation, possibly with one or two bases in Switzerland or surrounding area (France, Italy), and then take the kids to see Allstatt, Salzburg and the Romantic Road and maybe some of the Rhine River area.

Is this too much to do? If not, what’s a good itinerary? If so, what would your suggestions be to slim down the trip? Also, what would be a good base for us in Switzerland to take in the country?

Thanks, Matt
