Need advice on where to go for a week in Europe. More info inside..

Jump to last reply

I need some help on deciding where to go when I am in Europe this summer.

A friend of mine is getting married in Slovakia this summer and a couple of our friends will be making a trip there, each doing their own thing before or after the wedding. I will be meeting my friends in Prague on June 29th where we will tour Prague a little and then go to the girl's town in Slovakia; in total it will be about a week.

I am looking to make a bigger trip out of it and spend another week, either before or after the wedding, to somewhere else in Europe and I am trying to get some advice on where I should go. Also, just to let you know, last year I went to Europe with my dad visiting Prague, Vienna and Amsterdam, albeit for a only a couple days in Vienna and Amsterdam but I got a lot out of those trips (also he was born in Prague he speaks the native languages where we traveled so it was a great luxury and easy for me getting around). I am trying to visit new places and based on one week and of course not wanting to spend a fortune, I have a couple places in mind: Scotland or Spain (Barcelona more specifically).

A little info about me: I'm a single male in my late twenties. To be honest, I don't really care much for museums (some exceptions) but I do like doing a lot of outdoorsy things and sports, and of course a nice beer. Also, I do like my fair share of culture in the architecture and food.

Very briefly...
-I always thought Scotland was a beautiful place and could either visit Glasgow or Edinburgh and the countryside throughout. I think there are lots of outdoor things to do like biking, hiking, visiting the lochs and highlands. I could even visit London for one or two days prior to Scotland, maybe even be able to stay with a family friend in London. Also the fact that they speak English would be much easier of course.

-I also hear that there is much to do in Spain. I hear Barcelona has lots of great sightseeing, nightlife, food, beaches, and sports. I actually was there but I must have been about 12 so I barely remember a thing.

I know there is a lot more in each place but that is all I can think of at the moment.
Also, I am one of the worst people at making decisions and this is killing me. I could even be overlooking some other country to visit. If you have any advice on these two places or any other recommendations, please let me know.

Thanks!
