near Inverness lodging recommendations
Thought I'd start a new thread for this one. We'll be spending 2 nights in June near Inverness. We'll be driving from Skye and visiting Loch Ness/Urquhart on the way. The next day will be spent touring the Culloden area and the following day will be driving south back to England.
Mainly looking for towns/villages that are recommended since Inverness certainly isn't. If you have specific B&B recommendations, all the better. We are a family of 4 and would like to target around £150/night (total for 2 rooms likely). A little more is okay. A little less is better.
Our preference is to be within walking distance to dining options but that's not a hard requirement. We tend to like medium size guest houses (6-10 rooms) but again that isn't a hard requirement. Smaller is okay.
FYI, Rock Ness is this weekend which likely nixes Dores. Not sure how far reaching that effect is.

Here are a few to get you started:
This one is nice in Beauly walking distance to everything in the town. Big discounts for the kids. http://www.chrialdon.co.uk/tariff.php
This small B&B near Muir of Ord has a family room

This B&B near Culloden doesn't have a family room so you'd need to book both. Big attraction is the working farm, highland cattle - the sheepdog demos

This is a small hotel near Culloden w/ a family room http://www.thesmithtonhotel.co.uk/acomo.html

Thanks, Janis. So nice of you to pull so many specific examples.
The farm sounded intriguing but I was put off by some of the reviews.
The Chrialdon looks to be the best of lot and I'll consider that while continuing to search.
If Beauly and Muir of Ord are in the cards, what about Drumnadrochit? Not yet sure about availability, but there are some there with outstanding reviews on Tripadvisor.

We stayed just outside of Fortrose, on the Black Isle, at The Water's Edge B&B. Their website is http://www.watersedge.uk.com/index.shtml
The hosts were very nice. Our bedroom had a balcony that looked over the bay. We went down the road to Chanonry Point where we watched dolphins while we stood on the beach. We could see Fort George right across the water.
We stayed here two nights. Our full day there, we took a drive over to the Isle of Skye which was a beautiful drive.

I've stayed at Waters Edge as well. A wonderful B&B - but I didn't recommend them because there are no family rooms that I know of. And w/ only doubles at over £60 pp it really doesn't fit the OP's criteria
