Naxos hotel question

I am seeking advice concerning finding a hotel on Naxos. We will be there for 5 nights in June.

We would like something in or within walking distance of the old town. A lot of quaint Greek charm would be a big plus. Being at a hotel on the beach is not the primary purpose of the visit, but we would like to visit beaches, and if a hotel happened to be on the beach and was still close to the old town, that could be a plus but is not essential. A nice pool would also be a plus but is not absolutely essential. I think this puts me in the Hora/Agio Georgious Beach area.

I don’t think I want to pay more than $200 per night, but I don’t want to pay that much for something that is not much better than something that is much cheaper. The reason that I say this is because I have searched Naxos hotels on the internet and note that some options are beginning to disappear, and prices on lesser hotels seem to be rising. Some reviewers claim that after arriving and looking around, they realized that they could have done better for much less. I don’t want to pay an inflated price for a mediocre hotel when I could have stayed at another equivalent mediocre hotel (or a hotel with different features, such as no beach or pool) for much less.

To summarize, desirable features, in order of importance include: 1) in a safe area; 2) quaint Greek charm with a view of some type (not necessarily a sea view); 3) in walking distance of the old town; 4) with a pool; 5) on a beach; 6) no rental car necessary but the possibility of parking one if one is obtained.
Thank you and I greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Use the filter system at www.booking.com to search for affordable hotels on St. George Beach. It's just a short walk away from Mykonos Town. It may be too soon to book for next June, but you can at least find one you want and book it as soon as they allow.

Agree that booking(dot)com is a good place to start, but be aware that at this early date many hotels that are listed will show "no availability on this site". That simply means that the hotel has not started taking bookings for summer 2017 yet, and probably won't until after the Christmas - New Year season. Most hotels will have vacancies in June even if you wait until spring to make your booking.

I always find the hotel's own website and deal directly with them rather than through a third party. Hotels usually allocate only a small number of rooms to a booking agency, and still have vacancies even when the likes of booking(dot)com indicate they are full. Note that "site" means the booking website, not the hotel itself.

We loved the Hotel Galaxy - hopefully in your price range....very Greek, lovely pool, very helpful owner. Walk to beach, walk to town, many restaurants nearby. To be fair, we did see many smaller hotels that also looked nice in the same part of the town, but I certainly hope to be able to return to Hotel Galaxy sometime in the future.

HOtel Spiro is the best budget-level Hotel in the St. George beach area which also has a pool. For something a bit more upmarket, My preference would be Naxos Resort Beach Hotel ... it's back from the actual sands about 100 yards, but its own landscaped property, and nice landscaping around pool. Galaxy is behind that, farther from beach, and fronts on a busy road. Look at both Websites, and also check Trip Advisor reviews and especially "room tips" feature where former visitors tell which rooms have best balcony views.

Well just to nit-pick.....as I remember there was no busy road and Hotel Galaxy was actually closer to the beach but both properties were lovely and nicely landscaped. I guess I need to look at the map again.

I can't recommend Nissaki Beach hotel highly enough. We stayed there in June and it was by far the best experience of our trip. Family owned, everyone friendly, helpful. Amazing breakfast! comfortable rooms, right on the beach, walking distance to pretty much everything. Let me know if you have any questions - oh and great restaurant right on the beach.

I think you are limiting your choices when you include on the beach, sea view and a pool. St George is lined with lots of hotels with sea views and well below your price range but there are only a few with pools. Nissaki, Naxos Resort, Galaxy and Spiros are the ones that come to mind with all 4 criteria. The only budget one is Spiros the rest are larger and more up scale. If you drop the pool idea ( who needs a pool when you have the Sea and beach right there.) Now you have many additional choices. This is the reason people come back and report they could have paid less for a perfectly good hotel right at the beach.
Here are images of several St George beach hotels that we have personally stayed at or visited.
