My wife and I are going to Paris on 4/25/2008 and are wondering how we should purchase our transportation tickets. Here is our itinerary:
1. Land on the 26th at CDG take train to our hotel in Versailles.
2. After check in then go on train to Eiffel tower. Afterwards, get a bite to eat, maybe if we time walk around Champs Elysees.
3. Go back to hotel in Versailles.
4. Sunday morning Chateaux Versailles all day eat in Versailles.
5. Monday go to the Louvre eat dinner in Paris, go back to hotel in Versailles
6. Tuesday go to muse d¡¦orsay, Rodin museum, and historical walk (not in that order), dinner then hotel
7. Wednesday stroll through out Paris visit Montmartre, eat then go back to hotel
8. Thursday, Paris¡¦ labor day, we will go to Disneyland Paris (before anyone says anything we are big Disney fans being from Florida)
9. Friday another sight seeing day up for any suggestions back to hotel in Versailles
10. Saturday go to Paris for brunch then off to CDG because it would be time to go homeƒ¼
Now I was thinking of getting a mobilis for the 26th to take us to our hotel, Paris, then back to our hotel. I did not think that I would need a train ticket for Sunday being our hotel is right next the Chateaux. Then on Monday get a Navigo Decouverte (discovery) card and load it with a Carte Orange for one week. Any suggestions, and can anyone please explain to me the details of the Navigo. Do I get it and add the Carte Orange to it being that I am a visitor or do I just ask for it and everything will be ok because I have a Navigo card? Please feel free to share as much advise as possible.
Thanks,
Bill

Since you are spending so much more of your time in Paris than Versailles (35 minutes away by train) I would consider booking a hotel in Paris. A half day should give you all the Versailles you would ever want. Aside from the chateaux I don't know what you would do in Versailles.

Your transportation costs will be substantial traveling between Versailles and Paris so often. For complete information on ticket and pass prices on the RATP system:

You can buy the Navigo Decouverte and add the weekly CO to it. For travel between Versailles , you need to add it for zones, 1,2,3,and 4. You also need a small picture to be placed on the ID portion of the ND.

LarryJ,
I am staying in Versailles because we got a room at the trianon palace and spa for only 94 USD per night ebing that my sisterinlaw works for starwood resorts. We are in the process of seeing if there is any other hotels of the same quality available through starwood at the same rate, no luck so far.
