Mykonos to Naxos

We wre planning on heading to Naxos for a 11/2 days on our way to Satorini but heard that there is no ferry from Mykonos to Naxos. We were planning to go from Naxos to Santorini by boat and then fly to Athens. unfortunatly we already have our flights booked Athens /Mykonos & Santorini/Athens. Any suggestions ? We can always just go Mykonos Paros ??? We are traveling the 10th of Aprilfrom Mykonos to ??..thanks a million for any advice

The highspeed ferry between Mykonos and Crete, which makes a stop at Naxos didn't start operating until the last week of April last year and probably will start up around the same time again this year. You can, however, take the car ferry from Mykonos to Paros and transfer to another ferry that will take you to Naxos on the way to Santorini. Use www.gtp.gr to help you find the times that work for you, but April's schedule won't be posted for another month or so. Just be assured that you'll be able to get to Naxos, no problem.

Depends somewhat on which ferry you catch. With the car ferries, the shortest time Santorini-Ios is an hour. Shortest time Santorini-Naxos is 2 hours (Same ferry, next stop). This is the Blue Star car ferry that leaves Santorini twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Other departure times might mean stops at other islands, making the trip longer. Again, use www.gtp.gr for assistance.

Hi! Please clarify for me...when we go from Mykonos to Naxos, we change ferries in Paros? What about the fast boat (late May). Then when we go from Naxo-Santorini, do we also change ferries? Methinks I will have to figure out a way to travel light!

OK....the Hellenic Seaways highspeed ferry between Mykonos and Crete makes stops at Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini. This ferry will not start running until late April if things go according to past history. Please note that it won't be running daily until sometime in May. Once you're there you can easily find out what the current timetable is.

If the highspeed ferry is not yet operating you'll have to take a car ferry from Mykonos to Paros, then another ferry to Naxos. Both Paros and Naxos are ferry hubs in the Cyclades, so there are many ferries each day between these two islands. Some of them will take you on from Naxos to Ios and Santorini, some go to other islands, it just depends on which one you catch. That's why I gave you the www.gtp.gr link to help you figure it out.

When the highspeed ferry IS running, you can catch it on Naxos and it will then stop at Ios and Santorini before going on to Crete. It will spend the night in Crete then make the return run to Mykonos beginning the next morning, stopping at Santorini, Ios, Naxos, Paros and Mykonos in that order.

Keep this website handy for future reference:

About 5 years ago we took a day trip on a tour boat from Naxos to Delos in the morning, then Delos to Mykonos and back to Naxos in the afternoon. The tour boat may possibly not be permitted to pick up passengers in Mykonos but it could be worth investigating.
