My Tour de France with Cosmos

I took a 14-day tour of France with Cosmos in May/June this year. Since it is too long to post here, I have started to put in a photo report in my Blog below. Currently it covers Rouen, Honfleur and Caen; to be followed by the Normandy beaches soon. Other parts of France will be covered progressively. Hope it will be useful for those planning a trip to France.

Interesting report and good pictures. My favorite (so far anyway--hope you will continue)was the one in Rouen of the shadows of the cathedral on the buildings across the way.

Thanks for sharing and please don't quit now.

Thanks for viewing and the comments. Since most of the photos are extracted from my videos, the process will take some time so future posts may be slow in coming.

nice pics, Ronald.

We very much liked Rouen when we visited a few years ago, even though the signs of English perfidy were to be seen all over the city.

keep it coming!

Thanks for all the comments. I have just posted the part on the Normandy D-Day beaches for those interested to visit that area. Cheers.

Hi

Thanks for that. Can you give us your thoughts/review on Cosmos as a tour company. From time to time posters request info and recommendations for what tour company to use. We have used Cosmos twice and were very happy with them.

Tours often get a bad rap on this forum, so I am glad to see a positive trip report from someone who took a tour. My very first overseas trip was with Cosmos many years ago and I had an absolute blast. We traveled at a hectic pace, and I loved it all. In fact, I took several trips with Cosmos/Globus and Trafalgar before deciding to travel completely independently, and I enjoyed every one of them. Thank you for posting.

This was my second trip with Cosmos, I took their tour of Germany last year. I enjoyed that so I went with them again this year to France. Overall, I think they are well organised with itinerary that has better coverage than other tours but some of the hotels and the food could be better. But then at their price, you cannot really complain. You can get better hotels with Globus or Trafalgar but at a higher cost. I suppose to some extend the success of the tour also depends on the tour manager and the members of the group. Just my view.

Thanks. Well, in the end we were able to get into the Abbey. And because of the strike, we got in for free though a bit of a rush.

yes, a few years ago we were the grateful recipients of a french strike and got to travel on the metro for free. the downside was that there were very few trains and we were by no means confident that we'd manage to get back to where we were staying [St. Germain en laye] in the evening. Fortunately we did!

Enjoyed reading about your experience. We did an abbreviated 6-day version of this tour last fall - Giverny to MSM, St. Malo, Rennes, Tours and the chataux, and Chartres. Simeon was also our tour guide, and his favorite saying last year was also, "Welcome to France," when something went wrong!

I found Simeon very witty and humorous and enjoyed his French history lessons! Anyway, my Blog post has now reached the Loire Valley.

Talking of wine, my Blog has now reached the wine-trading capital of France, Bordeaux. But alas, no wine tasting here; we only did that much later in Beaune, Burgundy.
