My Home Exchange Near Lake Como

In August 2016 I did an almost month long home exchange south of Lecco near Lake Como. The trip report for the experience can be found here:

http://altecockertravels.weebly.com/...t-30-2016.html

I also went to the Verona Opera Festival while at the exchange, that trip report is separate and can be found here:

Well, August isn't over yet so I presume you are still there? Aren't you going to finish it, maybe you should have waited.

I would not have registered that website name myself for travel blogs, but to each his own. Have not heard that usually used for women, either.

Christina, she uses the Lake Como house as a base. Her blog says she is in Corsica now, returning to Lake Como area again.

This sounds lovely! Thanks for getting this started. I must say the thought of parking in one spot in Italy and doing day trips is appealing.

Isn't it a term for old person, an old grumpy person?

If you go to her blog, you'll see many excellent trip reports of her home exchanges
worldwide. She is quite the traveler from her Washingon, D.C. home.

I just returned from Corsica. I have that blog to finish and then back to the Lake Como blog just to be clear.

After the home exchange, I will be going for 3 days staying in a hotel and then to Florence for a week before going home. I have friends who will be in Florence renting an apartment and I will be visiting them before going home. There will be separate blogs for both those legs of the trip. I generally do the blog every day but sometimes--especially when I am changing places--I miss a day or two.

As a long-time and frequent Verona attendee I found the report interesting on a variety of levels.

I don't spend a lot of time on fodors. I mostly just post when I have something that could help others planning trips. I set up my blog first to answer questions about home exchanges. Then I started to blog my trips so I could remember them. Then others began reading. I do have a following on twitter--mostly other travel bloggers. Most of the travel bloggers are kids doing round the world trips. I'm in another category--ha!

It's Venice I am going to for 3 days starting tomorrow. I'm not doing much of anything besides laundry today in the home exchange house. I'll be leaving for the Lecco train station at 7:30am to catch a train into Milan and then onto Venice. I will be in a hotel there and there will be a separate blog. I'll post the link later--exactly when will depend on the wifi connection at the hotel. There may be no more photos until after I get home if wifi connections in the hotel in Venice and then my friends' rented apartment in Florence are not good. Loading photos has been a continual challenge on this trip.

I will be home on September 11th sleeping in my own bed for awhile--and, of course, glad to be there.

Happy travels to all all of you. Crefloors, I will make a point of catching up on your recent home exchange trip reports when I return home. No more exchanges planned until the end of March when I start a 2 weeker in California near Yosemite. Next summer, probably nothing as the next big project is selling my house and moving into a 2 bedroom condo I already own. Sad to sell the house, but it is really time. Just a huge project. I have started giving things away, but more work to do when I get home.

May all your travels be wonderful--wherever you go and however you travel.

Last I posted on a thread from Alte Cocker, she told me to stay away if I had nothing positive to say.
So I'll stay away.
Never been into home exchanges anyway. just don't like nor trust the system.
