MXP to Florence by Train

Jump to last reply

We arriving on a direct flight from JFK to MXP and the flight arrives at 10:40 a.m. We arrive on a Thursday in October. So I need some help on timing and confirmation that I have figured this out.

Do we need to take a local train from MXP to Milan Centrale and then catch the high speed train from Milan Centrale to Florence? There is a train leaving at 1:15 p.m. and another one leaving at 2:15 p.m. from Milan Centrale to Florencce.

How much time should I allow to go through customs? We are not checking any bags.

Do I buy the tickets for the local train at MXP? Obviously I need to add time to get some cash, buy local train tickets and find our way to the train.

If I were to buy tickets for the 2:15 p.m. train and got to Milan Centrale and was able to make the 1:15 p.m. train would they let us switch and take the earlier train?

Have I missed anything? Please let me know.

Thanks!
