Can both be done on the same day without rushing? Is it feasible? We have never been to either of these places so will need time to explore but they seem to be close by via the docklands light rail. From Cutty Sark DLR do we get off at West India Quay for the museum of docklands?

How much time do we need for Greenwich? Is a half day sufficient?

Is the Greenwich walking tour worth doing from the visitor center? Or best to skip if trying to also go to the docklands museum? We would also need some time for the maritime museum in Greenwich--not sure how big of a place that is to explore.

Half a day is not enough for Greenwich unless you just want to see a little of what is there.

I spent several hours in Greenwich a few years ago and saw the meridian line and the camera obscura, the Queen's House (including a period-instrument concert), and the chapel at the Royal Naval College. Time there included seeing the outside of the <i>Cutty Sark</i> (but not going aboard) and lunch at a pie shop as well. I don't remember if we saw more at the Observatory (I kind of think we did, though), and I'm pretty sure we did not visit the Maritime Museum.

So it's possible to spend just a half-day, but you'll need to be selective, get an early start, and stick to your schedule.

I also think you'd be very rushed to cover those two in the one day.

Greenwich can easily take a full day - there's the Observatory with it's history of time keeping; the self guided audio tour is excellent. Both the Queen's House and Maritime Museum took us half a day. If you happen to be at Greenwich on the right day there are excellent covered markets there in the town as well.

To us the Docklands Museum was fascinating, as it also related to my family history. We spent several hours there, but ended up rushing through the lower galleries. There's a very good cafe on site, so you could break for a meal or snack, then resume your tour.

Of course if one day is all you have available, then just pick & choose the bits of each you want to see. Di

Yes. Just walk to the far end of the dockside past all the bars and restaurants, and it'll be on your right.

We spent half a day in Greenwich seeing the bits that most interested us - the Nelson exhibit at the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory. We could have easily spent all day there, but we didn't have that much time.

Thanks. Originally I had planned on two separate days for Greenwich and the Docklands but since there are so many things we want to see, we may have to pick and choose as you say. Unless we are wowed by Greenwich then we may skip the Docklands for another time.
