Musee de l'Armee - France and the American Revolution

Are all of the galleries containing any items or displays relating to the French involvement in the American Revolution closed this autumn for renovation?

This part of the website doesn't look promising, does it?: http://www.invalides.org/pages/visite.html

Is there another gallery where I can see such things, or do I have to wait for another trip?

I was there a few weeks ago and spent a good long time in the wonderful De Gaulle exhibit, but several of the main exhibits were closed. I didn't see anything related to French involvement in the American Revolution that was open.

If you're going to be in Paris and have an interest in the American Revolution, don't miss the plaque (at 56 rue Jacob) noting where the Treaty of Paris (1789) was signed. This is where the U.S. was formally recognized as a nation separate from Great Britain, and is thus one of the most important events in the history of English speaking peoples. The plaque is written only in French!

Thanks, Paul. That's a good point.

There are a surprising number of American Revolution-related sites in Paris, from the place you mention to a bunch of interesting statues, streets, and buildings.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Lafayette's grave, as well.

To think, if not for my 6-year-old's wild interest in all things Am. Rev., I wouldn't be making time for this stuff at all....

You can actually stay in the former English embassy where the Treaty of Paris was prepared. The Hotel D'Angleterre, 44 rue Jacob..great location
