Murphy's Trip Photos: Greece
Hi Folks,
I was going to post the pictures for each section of my trip separately, but I've reconsidered. Instead, I will post them below as I finish organizing them.
I'll put a link in my trip report too
The albums are best viewed by clicking "enter album", then "slideshow"

Murphy, I bought the National Geographic tour book of Greece with lots of maps at my favourite bargain book store so I can now follow your route through the Greek Islands!
Also, I discovered that my local library has high speed wireless so I can finally see your photos in full size while I'm away from my home computer. Are they all on this thread?
An English friend used to go to a different Greek Island every year for a couple of weeks. That’s probably more our speed than your amazing odyssey.

Hi moolyn! Thanks for looking at my pictures - hope you find some possible itinerary inspiration.
Yes, I will post all of my pictures here and on my trip report post.
I have fixed the captions on the Messinian Mani picts and have added some more pictures to that album as well.
Cheers,
Murphy

Thank you so much kaleighsgram for looking at my pictures
I used a point and shoot film camera - an Olympus Stylus 80.
It was fine, but it was loud and opening the shutter is done electronicly and that seems to waste alot of battery.
I think I will get a digital for my next trip, but have heard so many mixed review on the quality....not sure yet. All of that film got expensive and was irritating to carry around.
I will be posting more photos tomorrwow!
Cheers,
Murphy

Hi guys,
I've finished posting my photos from Lesvos. Hope you enjoy.

I think I will post Santorini next - just to compare and contrast the Northern Aegean with the Cyclades islands.
Cheers,

Hi Fodorites,
I've posted my Santorini pictures.
Santorini
="http://murphypictures.myphotoalbum.c...um07">
I am unhappy I don't have more good pictures of Santorini, so this album is fairly short. I had lots of hazy weather during my 5 days there. Some of the shots are nice though.
Hope you enjoy,
Murphy

Murphy, fantastic pictures! Your Olympus did a great job!
I just went digital--with great trepidation and resistance--and took a little Nikon CoolpixS4 and was really pleased with the results. It was samll enough to fit in my purse or even skirt pocket but has a 10x optical zoom (6 megapixels). It was great to not have a lot of film to carry around (usually 25-30rolls) and a big SLR with zoom. I remember your story of the day spent chasing down your bag with the camera and film in it. (however, I bet that will always be in your mind and that will be the first thing you think about in every cab trip!)
Talk to a lot of digital users, pop into a camera shop or even Best Buy or Staples and check out what they have. A local camera store will be more likely to take time to answer your questions and let you actually handle the camera you are interested in. dpreview.com is a website where you can check out reviews of cameras, read user reviews, etc.
Whatever you decide, keep taking pictures and posting them. Yours are great!

Hi teacher33 - thanks for the camera info and for having a browse through my photos! My little Olympus did ok for just a basic camera - but definately there were a lot of associated costs with all that film, developing etc.
I really got interesting in photography during my trip and my pictures got better as I went - Santorini was my 1st stop so I would say those were my weakest batch. By Corfu however I really got into the spirit of it
Cheers,
Murphy

Thanks Murphy, these are great inspiration! Just a little over a month and we'll be in Greece...
Where is the beautiful church in Nafpaktos? Is it easy to find if stop through there on our way to Delphi?

Hi swefkin - thank you kindly
I happened upon that church in hills above Nafpaktos. Unfortunately though, Nafpaktos is way out of your way - 3 hrs from Delphi by bus.
Delphi is lovely though. Neighbouring Arahova would make a nice stop though.
Cheers,
Murphy

Oh lovely swefkin,
That church - its right next to the cemetary, so the locals should be able to point it out. Its up and in the backstreets on a hill and provides great views of town. The interior was not open to the viewing public when I was there.
Cheers,
Murphy

Oh wait....there is more than one cemetary in town. NOT the cemetary by the hilltop fortress. If you are under the fort facing the ocean you need to travel to the right and up. Sorry that is so vauge - I found it just wandering around.
