Munich Train Station
I want to travel from Regensburg to Mittenwald. The connection query shows "walking, 10 minutes" in Munich, where I would change trains.
Are there several terminals? Is there an option of a cart ride or something for folks with some impaired mobility?

The Hauptbahnof in München is divided into at least two sections. The rail line you will be using is called Alex and it uses tracks located in a different part of the station than the one I normally use.
Once, a few years ago, we came in on a commuter train from outside Munich and had to walk a ways to the main platform for find our train to Zürich.
To address your other question about assistance for a person with restricted mobility, the answer is YES - Die Deutsche Bahn prodes such services and the website says the assistance can be ordered on-line.
BUT there is one small problem: The description of how to order assistance is written in German. I could not find an English version of the same service.
When I drill down in English I have not yet been able to find the same detailed information that I can find in German. (It may be there, but I have not yet found it.)

Hmm I should have said provide rather than that incomplete word that got by me.
If anyone knows where on the Deutsche Bahn web site a full English description of services provided to the physically handicapped, I think others would appreciate it as well.
I looked, but so far the only web page that has the mobility service order form is written in German.
If a full English version exists, please let us know how to find it.

You can find the layout of the Munich main station (Hauptbahnhof) <a href="http://www.stationsdatenbank.bayern-...ere</a>:
It looks like the train from Regensburg comes into the main station on track 26. The train to Mittenwald leaves from track 31 in the "Starnburger Flügelbahnhof (wing station). The two wing stations are extensions to the main part of the station. If you are on about the middle or the train from Regensberg, it is a short walk to platform 30. No help should be required. Sixteen minutes should be sufficient.
Incidently, Alex, ALX or Allgäu Express is an independent company running regional trains in Bavaria under their privatization policy (stupidity in my opinion). ALX run just like any other regional trains.

It is my understanding that the ALX trains are part of the Tarifverband which a cooperative arrangement for honoring the tickets sold by other rail companies, including Die Deutsche Bahn.
Therefore passes should be good on ALX trains.
Länderbahn und Vogtlandbahn GmbH is the full name of the company.
Gmbh = Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung or limited liability company
My German friends sometimes tell me that it stands for Gesellschaft mit beschmierte Hosen.
I think that means a company with dirty pants, or at least smeared ones.

Actually not sos tupid at all. Regional transport planning works this way in Germany:
Town X (with a station) decides it wants 14 train stops per day and direction.
Town X submits a request to the Land government (say, in Munich) for 14 train pairs per day.
The local government in Munich reconciles the requests of different towns (if necessary) and formulates a bid for transportation services.
Rail companies (DB as well as "private" ones) bid on the offer
The best bidder gets the concession for 5 -10 years.
DB is the most successful bidder on most lines but often other companies are better. Check the story of the AVG on the lines around Karlsruhe.
Mind you, ALX is not just some enterpreneur - i´t´s a joint-venture of SBB and the state of Bavaria.

yes, the distance between where your train arrives/where it departs is totally flat and will probably take a lot less than 10 minutes
If you have time you can grab a quick bite to eat in the extensive food court area at the head of the main platforms, too.
