Munich in Early May
Hello - My wife and I are heading to Munich in May and are trying to figure out how to pack for the trip. We are doing the castles, Dachau, and Salzburg so I am guessing comfortable clothing is a must. What are good 'dress' guidelines for touring the museums and other attractions around Munich?
Also, how should we plan for weather? It seems to be in the 60's (degrees F). We are newbies at traveling internationally so any help is greatly appreciated!!!

What a wonderful time to be in Bavaria! Being in or close to the mountains Spring weather can vary widly. Dress in layers and take your wet weather gear just in case. At one time people made a big deal of wearing jeans. Now you will see locals wearing more jeans than leder hosen. You will be welcome no matter how you dress but dressy casual never fails unless you are going to a jacket and tie restaurant. Be sure to wear comfy shoes so sore feet don't slow you down. Have a super trip and raise a toast to the rest of us Fodorites who wish we were there with you.

AisleSeat has it: layers, layers, and, on top of that, and beneath it, layers. You might want to bring along different colored layers, just to make each day special. A silk scarf can also lend a layer of flourish. I often make one of my layers a 'hoodie', to raise up in case of chill winds - - and since Munich is not Florida, having one of these as a layer shouldn't be a problem.
