Munich airport -terminal 2 to terminal 1 and back
We have a 3 hour layover in Munich. We fly into and out of Terminal 2. We have a credit card membership which enables us to go into the Atlantic Lounge in terminal 1. I can't tell from the Munich airport website if it is easy to go back and forth, and if we would have to go through customs. If this were Heathrow I would know it isn't worth it, but have never flown through Munich. Can anyone enlighten me?

From the Munich Airport Website the Atlantik Lounge:
"Access by invitation of your airline
- by invitation of DINERS CLUB (cardholders) or
- with the following credit cards: Mastercard/Eurocard, American Express, VISA (fee charged)
Opening hours: Daily from 6 a.m. till 10:15 p.m.
The Atlantic Lounge is in the non-public area, which means that visitors have to pass through a security checkpoint.
Here you can relax before your flight in a pleasant setting. At the self-service counter you will find a wide selection of snacks and drinks.
For business travelers, telephones and fax machines are available in the lounge as well as laptop connections.
To keep you informed, there is also a wide selection of international newspapers and magazines on hand.
Two televisions — one each in the non-smoking area and the separate smoking room — provide information and entertainment.
So yes you do need to go through security to get there and back. The munich airport is not very big, but I wouldn't want to go through security twice just to go to a lounge, of course I have never had the luxury of being able to go to a lounge, maybe the perks are worth it??
I have been to munich twice and both times flying back (post 911) got to the airport very early just to be safe. The time actually goes fast, there are shops and things to do, the food is really good...sausages mmmmm...so 3 hours may seem like a long time but you can pass it without going to the lounge if you don't want to have the security hassle.
Hope this helps

Once you are inside security and passport control, you can walk from one terminal to the next along a balcony, along which you will find the various clubs. It's a bit of a walk, so give yourself some time, i.e. 20 minutes to get from one terminal to the other.
The last time I left from MUC a couple of yeras ago, I did not have to go through security twice, using the Business Club Lounge of KLM/NWA.

Thank you both. We will obviously decide at the time, but a 20 minute walk sounds good after an overnight flight. Even if we just sepnd 20 minutes in the lounge, it is something to do.
