Mulhouse to Annecy
We will be driving from Mulhouse to Annecy and would appreciate any feedback on route to travel. We would like to take a scenic route and avoid the Swiss toll if possible. Thank you for any suggestiohs you may provide.

I have checked several routes on the viamichelin site. Is the route via Besancon or Gruyeres more scenic. Also taking non toll roads seems to almost triple the time so are looking for the best route to take in one day. Thanks for any response to this request.

I would drive via Basel, cross the Jura mountains over one of the passes (I prefer Liestal - Waldenburg - Balsthal), stop in Solothurn which is a very beautiful town, then drive either at the foot of the Jura mountains along the lakes and vineyards via Neuchatel - Yverdon - to Lake Geneva (road #5), or take the route via the plains (but possibly with views of the Alps, weather permitting) and picturesque towns Aarberg, Murten, Avenches, Payerne to Lausanne (roads #22, 1).
Calculate 7-8 hours driving time, it's almost 400 km.

You might want to take a look at my trip report that starts in Base; click on my name to find it. We drove through the Jura to essentially Geneva (close to Annecy).
