Motorcycle trip through Northern, Eastern and Mediterranean Europe

I've taken 2 motorcycle trips through Europe, they were both quite similar: started in Northern Sweden, down through Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, French Riviera, Spain, Ferry to Italy, down to Sicily via Tuscany and Amalfi, then through Switzerland, Germany and back to Sweden.

My girlfriend and I are planning a 8-9 week trip for the summer of 2014...I know, way in advance. Either way, here's what we're thinking so far:
Northern Sweden, ferry to Finland, down through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania along the black sea, Bulgaria, Turkey. Then do some island hopping in Greece, then north through Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic and up back to Sweden.

Has anyone travelled through any of these countries via motorcycle before and perhaps might have some good suggestions for "must see" areas, towns, etc? Anything that we should stay away from?

Thanks so much in advance!

What bike do you have, jeairas? I've done about 80,000 kilometres around Europe on my R80GS over the last 20 years, been to Turkey 3 times on it. But not a lot of eastern Europe.

Both Turkey and Greece are really nice biking countries (and Aegean island hopping is very easy with a bike). My interests are ancient sites, so I tend to head for them.

Have a look at this website for ideas about Turkey - http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/index.html

You could use some ideas for itineraries in Albania from this website http://www.outdooralbania.com/cycling-tours-albania. Good luck with the planning!

@james_5639 - I think jeairas is Swedish and he rode from there.

I'm hoping to rent a motorbike for the 7th time in Turkey this summer. I can advise on that (and riding around Turkey).

Maybe jeairas will come back with his experiences.

Check out Stefan Knopf @ Knopf tours:

www.knopftours.com

He provides transport of motorcycles from many US cities and secure storage in Heidelberg. He can also provide, or assist in obtaining German insurance.

My husband knows someone that keeps a bike stored over with Stefan and goes over every yr to ride in Europe.

I posted this on your other thread. Just so you know, they will be in Daytona for bikeweek and will be shipping out of Orlando then. My husband has done the fly and rides with Harley but very $$. We know someone that is a BMW rep and does tours but it is so expensive. My husband is always brainstorming on this very thing. Great riding in Europe for sure.
