Mother/Daughteut r Trip
I'm planning a trip with my 26 yr old daughter (she's a chef). I would love to take her to France, but sobriety is an issue for her (and she's been already). I would like to avoid any areas where drinking / partying is a "draw" and would love for her to expand her horizons, both as a chef and as young woman. Any suggestions?

The trip is a surprise, and she's already been to France, Ireland, Scotland and England. I was thinking of Basque country, or possibly a Rainforest adventure trip.
She has been cooking fresh mediterranean cuisine (in a fairly high end restaurant) but I know she is interested in unexplored and unexploited cuisines. I would love to make this a culinary adventure for her as she is newly recovering from a severe eating disorder.... this is the first time she is willing to actually eat.

Congratulations to your daughter on dealing with some very difficult issues. Just some suggestions, as I haven't been to these areas, but maybe some Greek islands (maybe not Mykonos - I *think* that's an island with a "party" reputation in some spots), or a combination of Italy and Barcelona/Basque country? Or maybe Spain in general, doing the Basque region along with some of Andalucia?

Congratulations to your daughter Dakota for recovering from her problems. I am sure you have been through some very stressful times too, may both of you have happy and healthy futures.
One thought that popped into my mind was the Region of Piedmont in Italy. Piedmont has wonderful food. And yes of course wonderful wines as most places in Europe do of course but Piedmont is lovely, not a party scene, gorgeous scenery etc. You would want a car however. Were you thinking of renting a car? How many nights would you have for this trip?
Depending on how many nights you two will have Piedmont and the Basque Region of Spain as jent suggested might work out well also although personally I have not been in the Basque Region. But it has always sounded so beautiful, good food etc. From what I know of Barcelona (many friends from the US and Italy have visted there) it has always sounded rather like a party scene but perhaps not, I don't know from personal experience of course.
I am sure you will receive a lot of wonderful suggestions. Best regards to you and your daughter.
