More time in Colmar/Strasbourg vs a day for Reims or Chartes

Jump to last reply

I am preparing to book our last few days in France and am obsessing about how to spend those last precious hours before we say good-bye to France. Sadly, we are unlikely to return as we have so many more places we want to see and our time to see them is becoming more and more limited.

We will arrive in Colmar by noon on day 22 and will spend 2 nights there, visiting Colmar and nearby villages on the Route du Vin, with perhaps a quick look at Strasbourg. I am trying to decide whether to spend the last morning in the Colmar/Strasbourg area and drive to CDG (5 hrs 40 mins according to Michelin) to turn in our rental car and spend the night at the airport before an 11:15 flight home the next day; or try to make a quick stopover to see the Cathedral in Reims or take a quick peek at Nancy if that is "doable."

Comments on this? Suggestions for a place to stay in the Colmar area?

Also, recommendations for an inexpensive hotel at CDG would be appreciated. We just need a place to crash before the flight so we don't need anything fancy. We will be flying home on United if that makes a difference in terminals.

Thanks!
