Montepulciano it is.
Hi! So thanks to all your help on "Montepulciano Vs Cortona". Based on your answers and our prior biases we have chosen Montepulciano for our wedding in May 2007. We will figure out local transportation once we know more about who's coming and from where.
Anyway so I need to find lodging for our family(6 confirmed) for one week. This can be in town or just outside it in a country setting. We want to block some rooms in a couple of hotels for our guests(3-4 days or longer).
Any suggestions on properties or hotels?
Thanks,
Susan

Congratulations, Sue, I think you've made a great decision. the apartment we stayed in sleeps 6 (including 2 on the pull-out couch but the house Neopolitan recommended looked lovely. With a group that size it might be nice to have a kitchen at your disposal.

Hi Sue, I was going to weigh in on your question earlier but got waylayed so I'm glad to see that you went with Montepulciano. I just got back from Italy and I had an apt. in Montepulciano (Politian apt.) and I was very glad I chose it as a base (based on reading I did on fodors of course). You will really like this town! We visited Cortona also and I enjoyed it but overall I think you cannot go wrong with Montepulciano. I also wanted to mention that the owner of our apt., Giacomo Stuart, has an unusual career in real estate that somehow ties in to coordinating weddings on properties in Tuscany. He is a great guy and he might be a possible resource for you. He is very generous in answering questions and sharing his knowledge of the area and has alot of insight into weddings in Tuscany.
You can find his email by googling for Politian apt. Also, his apts. are lovely and affordable if that is something you or your guests might be interested in.

We stayed in Montepulciano last May at Le Manzinaie. (www.lemanzinaie.it). It's about 5 miles from Montepulciano. The hosts are great and we had a wonderful stay. Pienza and Montepulciano were my favorite towns in Tuscany. You won't be disappointed.

Hi,
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
JenV: Unfortunately politian apts are booked for the week that we need it. But you are absolutely right-Giacomo is amazing. He has been sending alternatives!
mv_rd: Le manzinaie has apts but are a little expensive.
I want to keep the 6 person , 1 week price to way below $1500!
bobthenavigator: I am using slowtrav also for these questions and thanks for the properties. I will contact them.
