Besides a tour you can do it on your own
TGV train to Rennes
then bus that meets train right to MSM
Lv Paris 7am or 9am or 11am
and be at MSM about three hours later
returns the same
chose a weekday for less long lines to get into the abbey

Not taken one, but I do know these companies offer them:
www.parisvision.com
www.pariscityrama.com
Both leave from central Paris.

I have researched a number of day tours to there. This one is much less expensive:

But if that's no concern, Check this out:

I have communicated with both companies and they are very professional and warm. The A Paris Travel is based in Tennessee in the states. FYI

I like taking these little day tours out of Paris with a tour company, even though it costs a bit more money than doing it on your own. For one thing, I enjoy the commentary along the way. This offers me a lot more information than I would have otherwise. I don't waste time finding my way. The tradeoff is that I'm working on someone else's timetable.

I don't know what was wrong with us, but we never could find the bus at the Rennes train station that would have taken us to MSM. And the Rennes station is not very user friendly. We ended up taking the train from Rennes to Pontorson where a taxi took us right to the Mont. That afternoon we took the audiotour of the abbey. Everything else you can easily do on your own. It was fabulous. If you do this, be sure to ask the taxi to come back for you when you are ready to leave the Mont, or you will have to compete with everyone else wanting one.

It costs quite a bit, but the Cityrama tour was worthwhile to me. I got to sleep on the bus and had a good tour of the abbey. I doubt I'd be able to do the train thing on my own even if it's way cheaper than the packaged tour.

Hello,
I just came back from France and had a wonderful stay.
I was in the Mont-Saint-Michel with my wife and chidren, I met a very good tour-guide, french, easy-going. Iam from United Arab Emirates and when he came the minivan was prepared with newspapers and magazines in arabic, videogames for the children and CD players... I had not to come to a meeting point, he came to my hotel directly, and I travelled only with my family for cheaper than the bus.
My chidren liked the tour, they were not tired. It's a very cool guy. He's just created a blog http://kantanfrance.wordpress.com/ if you want to join him
