Milan to Rome?

I will be flying into Milan (8am arrival) and plan to continue through to Rome. Can someone please guide me as to what transportation to take from Malpaensa Airport to the main train station in Milan. We have our Eurail passes, so we plan to jump on the train and go straight to Rome.<BR><BR>Thanks!

The Malpensa Express is fastest, though it does not take you all the way to Milano Centrale. Gets you to Cadorna station. I think most people take a cab from there. <BR><BR>Normally, you would be able to read all the details about your alternatives (there IS a bus that runs directly from Malpensa to Milano Central, for example, though sometimes it gets clogged by traffic, and the train never does) you need about it here:<BR><BR>http://www.airwise.com/airports/europe/MXP/MXPtran2.html<BR><BR>but right now the page is being updated and not available. Hope it comes back up before you need it.<BR><BR>In the meantime, here is another link:<BR><BR>http://www.ferrovienord.it/webmxp/ing/index.html<BR><BR>for Malpensa Express.<BR><BR>Or maybe someone remembers the details from memory (on the bus, for example), since the search function here on this forum is down right now.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Once in Cadorna station you can also take subway to Centrale station, ticketscosts 1 euro per eprson and the ride wil take you shorter than going by taxi. Also, from Malpensa there are buses that will take you straight to Rome. As you arrive in Centrale station, remember that will not be able to jump on the fist train available. Most trains from Milano to Rome are Eurostars that require seat booking and do not allow travelling standing in the corridor. Make sure you are going to take an Intercity train instead, which requires no booking (although you will probably end up travelling uncomfortably because all sesats will probably be booked). Intercity trains from Milano to Rome leave at 8:40, 11:20, 12;48, 15:20; also you might take the two espresso trains leaving at 13:50 and at 22:00, but these are slower and farl ess comfortable (although you should easily find sitting places on these two trains).
