Milan to Belagio

Hi Alan,
I got a link to nowhere with that URL above, so have no idea what it says. Coming from Milan, I'd say the easiest AND fastest route to Bellagio would be a train from Milano Centrale to Varenna (just across the Lecco leg from Bellagio). This takes under an hour.
At Varenna, just get off the train and head down the slope to the harbor--a short walk--to the fery stop. Frequent ferries to Bellagio, takes about 10 to 15 minutes. At Bellagio, the Serbelloni is a very short walk, to your left as you leave the ferry. Even with luggage this is not much of a challenge.
A taxi would actually take longer than the above method given both the traffic in Milan and around Como, and would certainly cost a bundle, but might just be easier if you can't walk very well or carry bags the short distances required.

Funny, I had trouble with the top link also earlier, now it works. Who knows! Anyway, that posting, now topped above this one, doesn't really answer Alan's question about going from Milan, focusing as it does on traveling from the airport.
To the point: I agree with Fran's suggestions as the easiest and fastest. Quite a pleasant journey, trains depart frequently and take just about an hour. Car service isn't so very much--paid about $70 the one time--but it took over 2.5 hours hotel to hotel.

Thank you everyone. My partners agreed that we would take the train to Como and then have a taxi from the hotel meet us at the train station and schlep us up to the hotel. We realize that this will take us a bit longer by taxi but it would also be a bit easier.
Does everyone have as much fun as we do planning their trips? Not as much fun as the actual traveling but still fun.

I'm surprised everyone's mentioning the train/taxi combo.
Take a taxi or private car. Especially with luggage.
If there is an easier (not faster) way to travel than by chauffered car, I'd like to know.
Don't know cost, but if your staying at the serbollini, don't think it should matter.
