When my mother required minor surgery, I calculated that it would cost less for her to fly with her hubby to Paris and have the procedure done in a top-quality hospital here than it would cost to have it done right in the USA—and that includes airfare. However, she decided to have the procedure in the U.S., anyway.
Paris has the only JCAHO-accredited hospital outside the U.S., and although it is more expensive than ordinary French public hospitals, it's still very reasonable compared to any hospital in the U.S.

Thanks for the input. I already have a top notch, albeit expensive, dentist. I was hoping that someone might have experience or know someone with experience with going out of the country for a major operation such as a liver transplant. I have read about the Apollo hospital in India, but do not know anyone who has ever explored this option. Thanks again.
