Med cruise by myself in Nov, 2012
Will go from Athens on the Queen Elizabeth & back. Do we really have to dress formally several times on-board? I may find it difficult to swan up and down a marble staircase on a moving ship several times, but have read that Cunard has "fashion police" to enforce their dress policies. Is this true? And will it rain most of the time that late in the year? Can someone advise where and what to eat for lunch on Mykonos, Mytilene, Izmir, Katakolon, Istanbul, and Heraklion, please - things you just loved? If Santorini will be nearly closed down, where will one eat? (Obviously I am looking forward to Greek food)!. Are there things you bought yourself (or receipients of same back home) that you are so glad you did? If so, what and where? This is a "bucket List" tour for me and I really want to savor every bit of it. Thank you for any suggestions and your assistance!

I forgot: is it advisable to book the Cunard tours or would it be less expensive to get a tour either onshore or to book ahead on the web? If the latter is true, which companies does anyone advise for the above places? (I'm pretty much set for two days prior to cruise in beautiful Athens and the Cunard tour of the Spice and Grand Bazaars in Istanbul - wouldn't miss those for the world)!!

On the QE there are not only several levels of cabins there are several levels of dining. If you go for the more upscale dining - yes they re serious about the dress guidelines. Options are to eat in a more casuale dining room (but do check there to), dine in cabin or at bars, etc.

I'm in Brittania dining, nytraveler. Menu sounds wonderful! (And, NO, food is not why I'm going on this trip, in case anyone thinks otherwise, but, hey, it's important). I have black pants and dressy tops (thank you Avalon2). Please do discuss onshore tours and rainy Greece for me (see above).
