May itinerary need help

I am trying to finalize my itinerary for 5/6-5/17 travel to Croatia.

5/6 Thrus fly to LJU
5/7 Fri lands in Lubljana 3pm. Train/bus to Bled and see the lake
5/8 Bled to Plitvice ? do I go Bled-Rejika-Plitvice or Bled ?Zagreb-Plitvice?
5/9 Plitvice to Split
5/10 Split to Hvar
5/11 Hvar
5/12 Hvar ?Split ?Dubrovnik or Hvar ?Dubrovnik by boat
5/13 Split, Korcula or Dubrovnik?
5/14 Dubrovnik
5/15 Dubrovnik
5/16 Fly from Dubrovnik to Zagreb either 7:30am or 4pm
5/17 fly out from Zagreb @ 9am

I am still having a hard time to try to get figure out if I should try to stop at Rejika or just go to Zagreb and spend ? day there before heading out to Plitvice. Then when I fly into Zag from Dbv, stay ? day or all day on 5/16. I am not sure if Rejika is worth the stop when I have so little time and seems like it may be farther from Plitvice than Zagreb. Another question is once I am on Hvar, would I be able to ferry from there to Dubrovnik? I have a hard time syncing the schedule as the ferry runs are limited. And I am tempted to bus from Split to Dub as I hear that is a gorgeous trip. Should I go to Dub by bus or ferry?
The limited bus/train/ferry schedule are driving me nutty! Please let me know what you think of the current plan and if you have any advice on transportation and good lodging, that would be most appreciated. Also advice for woman traveling there solo would be great, too. Thanks much!!!

It looks like you are planning on covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time. We are leaving in three weeks and covering less than you are in a 19 day period. I know what you mean about the ferry schedules. They don't run very regularly until mid June or so. It makes it difficult to plan what nights you will stay in each destination.

I am posting some of the web sites that I have found useful for planning our trip. One is for accomodations in Dubrovnik, one is for audio of the Croation language and the other is a Croatia travel forum. I hope this helps!

Considering with such short time and travelling by train/bus,if I may make some suggestions:

-Skip Bled-further north; it would be quite late when you arrive Lublijana, besides the city has fine old town centre, worth spending some time.

-Rejika has several interesting old buildings, but mainly a port and drab commercial centre;not worth the detour under the time frame. Besides, it is easier to take bus from Zagreb to Plitvice.

-Since the trip from Lublijana to Plitvice will take mote than half a day, perhpas you would need time at plitvice. To me, it is far more beautiful and intersting than Bled.

-Zagreb has beautiful old town, takes at least one whole day to visit it,perhaps it would be better taking ealier flight.

-Dubrovnik is very impressive but not a big town, will you be spending 3 whole days over there within your time frame?

Hi JudyC & Eurotraveller,

Thanks for your feedback. I know my plan is pretty ambitious especially as I look into the traveling point to point time.

Eurotraveller- the websites are great- I have been having a hard time to find the Croatian language so this was very handy.

JudyC- I will need to figure out if Bled will be worth a visit now!
I have decided on going from LJU to Zag to Plitivce route given my tight schedule. As for Dub- I was thinking making day trips to Cavat or Mijet depending on how I like the city. It seem like a safe plan to hang out there 3 days - but I will have to check the schedules again.
I think I will spend more time in Zag with your advise.

If anyone else have even more advice, please let me know!

Now I will have to make another post about solo female travller.

Thank you both again!

You are covering a lot fast. As much as I loved Bled, I agree you might skip it on this trip. I spent 4 days in Dubrovnik and could have spent a LOT more. It's a wonderful place. When you walk the old wall, be sure to check out Buzza, a bar that literally hangs off the front of the old wall (on the sea side). http://p.vtourist.com/1038243.jpg

You leave Thursday! Have a great trip!

Hi Grasshopper,

thanks, great picture! I will have to remember to stop by there. Yep, counting down my days. The only sad thing looks like the whole time I will be there, it will be raining! I will need to repack tonight....
