Marry in Venice travel to Florence, Rome, AC, Naples
Hello! I need some advice on my trip to Italy in the middle to end of May.
Firstly, I plan on eloping with my fiancé in Venice. However, I do not know to how to go about this. Does anyone have any advice on getting married/reciting nuptials in Italy?
Secondly, we have flexibility, but my overall itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 Arrive in Venice
Day 2-3 Venice
Day 4-5 Florence
Day 6-8 Rome
Day 9-13 Amalfi Coast
Day 14 Naples
Day 15- Depart Naples
I will most likely opt for trains between cities for travel, but a friend did suggest I rent a car for our stay in the Amalfi Coast. My concern would be parking in the coastal towns.
Where do I stay along the coast? Postiano? The end of the trip is mainly for relaxation (on the beach if weather permits..) and taking in the scenery of the coast. Perhaps a trip to an island or lagoon?
Any suggestions of places to stay while in Venice, Florence, Rome & AC??
Should we look into apartment rentals on airbnb, we use it in the states, but have yet to try Europe airbnb. Is there a better alternative? Or should we just stick to booking.com for hotels?

If you google "getting married in Venice" you will find many wedding planning sites which might be worthwhile for research.

Of course you have many options including a legal ceremony in your home country and a symbolic ceremony in Venice.
Your itinerary looks fine for decent overviews of the cities. IMO and IME a car would be a liability and unnecessary cost on the Amalfi coast. You can travel among the villages by bus or ferry and by train from Naples to Sorrento and perhaps further along the coast. Here's a handy little diagram:

First off, congratulations!!!
I think you are trying to fit way too much into 2wks and will not find that relaxation you are seeking! I'm assuming you are coming from the US and will be jet lagged. You have listed your locations with no travel time included, so in reality it should look more like this: Venice/Florence/Rome 1.5 days, etc. this doesn't give time to really enjoy or explore any location! Venice is very romantic, but it needs it's confusing to navigate. I found it best enjoyed before and after the day's crowds. By 10am on a day in May, it will be packed. Florence is compact, and lovely, but also takes some time. I think your first priority should be to determine your interests and prioritize your time accordingly. I would select 3 destinations and focus on those. For me, those would be Venice, Florence and AC, or Venice Rome and AC. You will get better advice once you trim your itinerary. Also, are your flights booked? Good luck!

Are you from the US? If so, you will need to produce a lot of documents that have been translated. I think you have waited a bit late to plan for May. The paperwork is what seems to take the most time and the back-and-forth with the Italian offices. Here's what you have to do and a list of the documents you need.

Eloping in europe for americans is not really possible. Marrying in europe requires a lot of paperwork - official and translated into Italian and notarized (including proof that you are both free to marry). In Italy only civil marriages are legal and MUST be arranged in advance with the government of the city you will be in. Really suggest you do a lot more research on this.
As for your trip - agree you are trying to do way too much in too little time, not allowing for travel times and really won;t have any time to just relax and enjoy being in Italy.

Remember that each time you move locations, you'll lose about half a day to travel and logistics. So your two days in Florence is really only 1.5 days, your 3 in Rome is really 2.5, etc. I'd suggest cutting at least one destination from your trip, so you have more time enjoying the places you do visit and less time in transit. I have no advice about the procedure for getting married in Italy, but I suspect it's complicated. I'd suggest getting married in the US, and then arrange to have some sort of "blessing" ceremony arranged by a planner.
As for the trip itself, some random ideas/suggestions:
It does appear you're trying to do a bit too much. Keep in mind that every time you change locales, you lose about a day to travel in between cities. With you itinerary, you're taking about losing about 4 days.
Are you staying in Naples just so you can catch an early-morning flight from there? If not, consider hiring a car service to take you from the AC to the airport.
Car on the AC? No. Driving and parking will be no fun. Positano is a good, relaxing spot for your stay on the AC, but it's going to be crowded with tourists. No escaping that at the time of year you're going. From there, if you like, you can take day trips to Capri, Amalfi town, Ravello.
Whether you stay in hotels or apartments is a matter of preference and budget. If you want recommendations, you're going to have to provide your budget. No sense in people recommending a 5-star hotel, for example, if you're set on staying in low-cost B&Bs.

And I forgot to answer your lodging question. Yes, you should use booking.com. Your visits to each location will be brief... apartment rentals tend to make more sense for longer stays. It will be especially helpful to have access to someone at the front desk to answer your basic questions (which way to the museum? Where's a good place for lunch... etc), when you are unfamiliar with the city and have limited time there.

I got married in Italy as a Brit a couple of years back and the paperwork was impressive to say the least. In the end it helped that a friend knew the local council wedding people.
If you want to do this in Venice then pay a wedding planner to get it done. Venice has many foreign weddings going on so you will be at the back of the queue unless you pay your way in.
If you want to do it without a wedding planner I'd recommend somewhere there are fewer tourists.

Absolutely No to the car on the AC. I rent an apartment for a week in Positano each June and would never consider having a car. From Positano it is easy to reach Capri, Amalfi/Ravello and Salerno via ferry - with amazing scenery from the sea.
I have never personally used Air B&B, but I know several people who have with no problems. Using sights like www.venere.com will allow you to search by price, location, etc.
If you are planning on traveling THIS May, you should hurry with your reservations - places in Positano get booked months in advance.
