I looked at Google Maps and see that it is quite far out -- about 2 km northwest of the Vatican. Look at the map yourself, and be sure to zoom out so you can see where it is in relation to the historic center. You should be south of the Vatican, at least, and closer to the river, if you want to stay on the Trastevere bank in Rome.

Besides, why would you want to go to Italy and stay in an American hotel?

Haven't stayed there but know others that have.

Some are ok with the fact that it's away from the sites... they have an hourly shuttle that will take you to a metro stop near the Vatican (I believe... I checked into it last year but decided to stay at the Grand Flora). They are also very near a train station.

Others haven't been as ok because of the above reasons. And the shuttle can be full, it stops running at x hour, etc.

If you are a Marriott Rewards member (or not... just sign up as it is free), logon to marriottrewardsinsiders.com and do a search on Rome there. It will give you a ton of info on the hotel and on Rome itself.

Charnees, the OP may want to use points for the hotel.

Unless you absolutely have to use points because you can't otherwise afford to go, I would highly recommend staying somewhere else close to the center and everything you will want to see. You will waste a lot of time getting to and from the hotel, plus it makes it difficult to stop back at the hotel during the day, or even before going to dinner. The Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Campo de' Fiori area is central, close to a lot, good bus connections to things that are a little further away, tons of great restaurants.

I've stayed here before, not far from the Spanish Steps, and can recommend it.
