market days in burgundy towns?

Anyone know how I can find out which towns and villages in Burgundy have market days on which days of the week? Been trying to get this from tourists offices and google with no luck.

Hi,

I spend a lot of time in Burgundy and these are the three I know:

Sunday in Chablis

Wednesday in Beaune

Friday in Dijon

Enjoy,
AK

In 2001 "France" magazine published lists of all the markets in France. It was published in 4 issues of their magazine. The March-April issue covers Burgundy. There are 40 cities with markets in the Cote d'Or department (Burgundy), 85 in Soane et Loire just to the south, and 26 in Yonne to the west.

We're spending 2 weeks in a Gite near Beaune, and here are the cities/villages close to Beaune that have markets. The letter/number (like I8) is the grid on the Michelin map where the village is located.

Mersault F I8
Nolay M H8
Chagny Th, Su I8
Demigny Tu east of Fwy
Epinac W, Sa H8
Bligny sur Ouche W I7
St Legur sur Dheune Tu H8
Beaune We, Sa
Nuites St George F J7
Buxy Th I9
Chalon Sr Saone daily, ex M
Ecuisses Su H9
Gevrey Chambertain Tu J6
Le Creusot Tu, Th-Sat G9

Dijon Tu,ThF, S at les Halles

If you want me to look up specific cities that I have not listed, let me know & I will do so. The above list only includes markets that are close to our Gite.

Dear Stu and AK,
Wow your responses are superb, exactly the info I sought! Thank you so much. Perhaps you can comment on my itinerary: After 6 days barging (the Luciole) on the Nevernais, we pick up a car in Auxerre on Saturday morning (May 20), have lunch at La Vieille Auberge in St-Agnan. We drive to our hotel, Chateau de Vault de Lugny near Avallon where we have dinner and spend the night. Sunday mornig we'll head for the market in Chablis (thanks to you) and a morning wine tasting somewhere. We'll drive (any suggested route) to Beaune where we stay at Le Cep for 2 nights. Dinner Sunday night at Lameloise; lunch/wine pairings at Olivier Leflaive on Monday. Then we drive to the Loire for a 3 night stay before heading to CDG and home.

Robbietravels,

Your itinerary looks nice - the only thing I would say is that while you are in Beaune, be sure to drive further south in the Cote d'Or. It is full of lovely little towns with excellent wine producers (volnay, nuits-st-george, pouilly, etc.).

Robbie don't forget a stop in Dijon market 4 times a week as Stu mentioned.

Far, Nuits st Georges is north of Beaune, between Dijon and Beaune actually.
