marche nocturnes in dordogne

I understand there are some summer night markets in certain villages. We will be near Sarlat for the week of 6/25-7/2. Am hoping there might be one while we are there.

Hi
Every thursday.
You gotme confused - it is 'Marchés nocturnes.'

Marche (la) = a walk or a stair.
Marché (le) = market.

http://www.sarlat-tourisme.com/marche-de-sarlat

Marchés nocturnes bio (Toute l'année) :

- Place du 14 Juillet (place de la Poste) : Toute l'année. Le jeudi, à partir de 17H en hiver et 18H en été.

The Sarlat Tourist Office website should list them all soon before they occur, but it's not a fixed schedule for certain villages for the most part. You'll see posters up in villages and on the roads a few days before. There are some places, like Audrix, that have regular night events (repas, gastronomie, but not a marché) on weekends in the summer, but the marchés nocturnes generally aren't fixed events.

A marché bio nocturne wouldn't hold much interest to me at all. I'd rather see my veggies in the light of day.

I've never been to a marché nocturne that was anything like a party atmosphere. It's usually just a side street of a village where there are vendors selling the same types of stuff you find at regular marchés, or sometimes it's an evening rummage sale with second-hand goods. There are repas and bals dansants and other evening activites where there is music and food; these are frequent in the summer, and you pay a fee for the communal meal and entertainment, but they aren't marchés.

I'll have to go back and check the location of your château, but I'm sure I can recommend someplace to get a nice meal.

My all time best in Dordogne was restaurant Panoram I htink, at la cingle de Trémolat - but one hour west of Sarlat... What a view and good food.

Was looking at Lo Gorrisado. Not sure if too fancy. 3 or 4 km from chateau.

Haven't eaten at Lo Gorrisado, but it looks really fussy to me, and not exactly representative of the local terroir. I would check out L'Esplanade in Domme or La Treille in Vitrac, or even Le Relais des Cinq Châteaux outside Vitrac, or Le Gabarrier in Allas-les-Mines.

Le Panorame is wonderful, Whathello, but a long way from where plambers is staying. Speaking of which, plambers, I can't find the email where you told me where you were staying. Email me again, please?

Know won nos the Dordogne like St-Cirq! c'est vrai sans doute - take her advice to heart!

And watch out for those piranha that infest the Dordogne river! (Well at least some years ago! Not sure now!)

Cheers!

PalenQ, I am very fortunate indeed to have St Cirq's guidance and we will get to meet her and her husband when there.
https://www.vrbo.com/381978 is our gite for the week. Outside of Sarlat. Ideally want someplace nearby (5-10 minutes)bc it will have been a long travel day and we don't want to get lost our first night!Happy for any dining recs.

Any of the places I previously mentioned would be good, but if you want more choices in Sarlat I'd suggest Le Présidial, Le Bistro de l'Octroi, and Le Grand Bleu (which I think has a Michelin star).

We don't have any more pirhana, PalenQ - that was years ago, and there were maybe two of them.

St Cirq, we want something close by and easy for the first night-what is your rec? I don't need Sarlat unless you recommend otherwise.
