MARATEA AND GULF OF POLICASTRO REGION

MY WIFE AND I ARE PLANNING A WEEK IN LATE MAY IN THE AREA USING A VILLA ON THE COAST NEAR MARATEA AS A BASE. WHAT ARE THE COASTAL VILLAGES LIKE? WHAT DAY TRIPS (2 HOURS OR SO) WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

If you like cold sea water, you may visit the beaches. Otherwise check Castellabate, Paestum, Camerota, Sibari, Potenza, Metaponto ...
The real gems of Italy are all too far away

not interested in the real gems of italy, saw them in 1970 and again in 1984. last year spent 3 weeks wandering small villages and not visiting touristy areas - only saw one tour bus. would like to do similar in this region.

thanks for response.

in this case, you are of course no longer interested in Paestum and Castellabate, sorry!
BTW: for me, real gems and places visited by tour buses are 2 completely different things!
